At 0308 hours Engine 801 was dispatched to 5508 43rd Pl. for the house fire. As the Engine left the bay, a large column of smoke and the glare of fire were visible through the trees. Engine 1 arrived on scene with their own hydrant and a large 30X 50 three-story balloon frame victorian house with heavy smoke and fire showing.

The crew from 1 stretched a line and made an aggressive push through the house backed up by Engine 7 to get the fire knocked on the first floor. In all there were four rooms of fire on the first floor and two rooms on the second floor with extension to the attic.

With the amount of fire as well as the weather conditions the second alarm plus assignment was struck to bring the fire under control. All crews on scene worked well together and there were no injuries. After extensive overhaul over four hours, the Engine crew returned to quarters.
