Truck 1 on Langley Park Apartment Fire, Precautionary 2nd Alarm

Shortly after 11 p.m. Friday, units from Chillum, Hyattsville and surrounding areas were alerted for a reported apartment fire in the 8100 block of 15th Avenue in Co. 34’s area of Langley park.

Companies were advised enroute that the incident may have been the result of a domestic situation and police initially cleared the scene for fire department units. A precautionary second alarm was sounded soon after arrival.

Upon arrival, Truck 1’s interior crew operated on the fire floor performing a primary search (which was negative) and opened up. The exterior crew threw ladders to Side Alpha. The fire was quickly placed under control and the second alarm units were released.

Truck 1’s crew of seven assisted with overhaul, lighting and ventilation. The fire was contained to the apartment of origin. The crew later assisted investigators and went in service after about four hours on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation and damage estimates were not immediately available.
