Just after 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, Rescue Squad 1 was dispatched on a box alarm to 8005 14th Avenue in Company 34’s area (Chillum-Adelphi). Battalion Chief 4 arrived on the scene with smoke showing from Side Charlie, Division 3, requesting the Working Fire Dispatch.
Squad 1 was the third arriving unit and first special service on the scene behind the first-in engine companies and requested to go to work as such, completing the primary search and working with Engine Company 34 on the fire floor. Squad 1 completed both the primary and secondary searches of the fire apartment and adjacent unit. All searches were negative.
The Squad crew of six volunteers continued to work inside opening up hot spots and assisting investigators, returning to service at about 7:30 p.m.
