At approximately 1230 hours, Engine 11 responded with 6 personnel to 6401 Longfellow St. for a reported house fire. First arriving units arrived to find smoke showing from a two story duplex. The crew from Hyattsville advanced a line into the reported location and then into the exposure unit.
The disposition was determined to be a fire in the basement of the adjacent duplex unit. Due to the advancement of the fire in the basement and a natural gas leak in the basement, the building was evacuated to await the gas company. Engine 11 returned to service at approximately 1500 hours.
