Shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 3rd, 2016, units from Kentland, Hyattsville and surrounding areas were dispatched to the 7900 block of Legation Road in Co. 28’s area, West Lanham Hills, for a reported house fire.
Truck 1 was alerted second due special service and arrived behind Tower 33 and was assigned Division 1. Truck 1’s crews searched the basement and first floor. The truck’s exterior crews threw ladders to sides Charlie and Delta and went to the roof to assist other companies with opening up. After searching, the interior crew was redirected to the second floor to help open up and check for extension.
HVFD crews cleared about 90 minutes after arrival. The cause of the fire is listed as accidental/electrical with approximately $100,000 in fire loss, according to Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department Chief Spokesman Mark Brady.
