HVFD 2016 Stair Climb Team Raises Nearly $4,000

The HVFD raised nearly $4,000 to support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, participating in the 2016 National Capital Region 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at National Harbor on Saturday, September 10th.

Each participant pays tribute to a FDNY firefighter by climbing or walking the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.

Overall the event raised nearly $50,000, benefiting the FDNY CSU and the programs provided by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to support the families of our nation’s fallen firefighters.

Our fundraising efforts were our most yet and second most of all teams this year, bringing our three year total to about $6,000.

Thanks to our top team fundraiser, Sarah Kessel, event organizer Nathan Zeck, as well as Charles Harvey and Dan Nichols for their significant last minute donations including those whose contributions Dan matched in the final hours — we nearly doubled our fundraising in the last day.

Great job by all the participants and thanks to our volunteer Paramedic Ambulance crew for staying back at the firehouse and the other dozen plus members starting Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) at the firehouse Saturday morning, a very busy day at the HVFD.
