On May 14th shortly before 3 a.m., Rescue Squad 1 was dispatched for a reported house fire in the 6800 block of Westmoreland Avenue in Montgomery County.
On arrival, the squad crew split into two crews — the first crew completed a search of Division 1 while the second searched the basement. Both searches were negative. The squad crew later assisted with opening up and overhaul.
Engine 1 was dispatched minutes later on the fire task force, laying a secondary water supply and operating on Division 2, opening up to find and extinguish remaining fire in the walls.
Units returned to service after 5 a.m.
The HVFD units were staffed with 10 volunteers and an ambulance crew was also in service handling calls in our response area.
