HVFD Reaches Out to Community After Carbon Monoxide Tragedy

On Tuesday, June 1st, members of the HVFD and surrounding areas canvassed the neighborhood where three people died over the holiday weekend in a carbon monoxide incident. Watch the video report from WJLA below.

The HVFD partnered with County Council member Will Campos’ office, the City of Hyattsville, the Prince George’s County Fire and EMS Department and the College Park Volunteer Fire Department to provide the community with a “Post Incident Neighborhood Intervention” in response to this tragedy.

Crews provided smoke alarms to members of the community, check existing smoke alarms and make safety inspections.

We are working diligently to prevent future incidents with carbon monoxide with the ultimate goal of making our community a safer place to live and work. We would like to thank the Hyattsville Home Depot for their generous donation of smoke alarms to support this effort.
