At the HVFD’s annual meeting Monday night, several elections and appointments were made including the fourth Fire Chief of the department in the last 40 years.
NEW FIRE CHIEF
Chief Mitchell Kannry stepped up in 2018 to fill the shoes of long-time Chief Dave Hang to lead the department during the transition. Mitch was only the third Chief of the department in the last 40 years. Joshua Wortman, who joined the HVFD in 2010 as a live-in member from Michigan, has been appointed by the Board to fill the remainder of Chief Kannry’s term through 2020. Thanks to Mitch for his service as Chief, especially leading our second engine process. Chief Wortman assumes the post January 1st formally with his officer team announced soon.
BOARD CHAIR
We’d like to thank Bill Moran for a decade of leadership as the Chairman of the Board. Bill did not seek re-election. Stephen Hulick, a University Park resident, was selected by the Board to fill the spot. Thank you Bill for your 25+ years of continued service to the department
BOARD POSITIONS
Life member Andy Levy was re-elected to a three-year Board of Directors term, joined new former Chief Dave Hang as a newly elected member of the HVFD’s Board of Directors. The Board of Directors re-elected Thomas Falcone as President of the Department.
