HVFD 9/11 Stair Climb Team Raises $4,500 for NFFF

The HVFD raised $4,500 to support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, participating in the 2017 National Capital Region 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at National Harbor on Saturday, September 16th — the top fundraising team and bringing our four-year total to over $10,000.

Each participant pays tribute to a FDNY firefighter by climbing or walking the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.

Overall the event raised nearly $30,000, benefiting the FDNY CSU and the programs provided by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to support the families of our nation’s fallen firefighters.

Thanks to our top team fundraiser, new member Jeffrey Louie — a 26-year military veteran who lives in Hyattsville and recently joined the department after his retirement. Jeff was also the overall top individual fundraiser for the event. HVFD members Austin Scott and Pravin Fonseka were also among the event’s Top 10 individual fund raisers.

Great job by the 20+ HVFD member participants and thanks to our dedicated members who also staffed our fire/EMS units back in quarters and also participated in the City of Hyattsville Police Department’s annual “Cops on the Rooftop” fundraiser.
