First-Ever Fire Safety Day at Mall a Success

Over a thousand people including 400+ children participated in our first-ever Fire Safety Day at the Mall at Prince Georges on Saturday, October 25th.

The event was featured in the Mall’s Center Court and extended outside to the rear of Macy’s, with many activities including our Kid’s Fire Safety Adventure course, which requires children to complete four of six fire safety and prevention oriented tasks. Visitors also took photos with our mascots, Hailey and Larry, with fire trucks, get recruitment and fire safety materials, learn about our new firehouse, check out information from our partners at the City of Hyattsville Police and more.

Our typical Open House, normally held at the firehouse, was moved to the Mall this year due to some timing of some construction efforts on our temporary quarters at the time of scheduling the event.

The HVFD would like to thank the Mall at Prince Georges for their assistance in putting the event together.

The date and location of our 2015 will be announced mid-year.
