HVFD, Red Cross Break Ground on Our Future


The Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department, American Red Cross – National Capital Region and Prince George’s County broke ground Saturday, October 12th on a new joint emergency services facility.

Hundreds of HVFD members past and present, community leaders and citizens joined us for the service. Joining HVFD’s leadership, speakers included Prince George’s County District Two Council Member Will Campos, American Red Cross COO Lee Stebbins, Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department Chief Marc Bashoor, City of Hyattsville Mayor Marc Tartaro and former Council Member Pat Smith.

The ceremony ended with the ceremonial first “dig”. Renovations to our temporary quarters are expected to start later this year with full construction starting on the new building within the next year or so.
