On the 19th, at 1229 hours Truck 1 was dispatched to 7408 17th Ave in Co. 34’s first due for the house fire. Engine 343 arrived with light smoke showing. Truck 1 arrived quickly thereafter and began its searches. The fire was contained a few kitchen cabinets and a wall. Searches were negative and Truck 1 opened up and set up fans. Truck 1 cleared at 1316 hours.
On the 18th, at 0953 hours Truck 1 was dispatched to 2108 Saranac St in Co. 34’s first due for the house fire. Engine 343 arrived to find heavy smoke showing from a 1 story house. Crews found a dishwasher on fire in the kitchen with extension to the walls and cabinets. The Truck opened up and searches came up negative. Truck 1 cleared at 1136 hours. |

At 1506 hours Truck 1 was alerted for the house fire at 2011 Rittenhouse St in Company 44's first due. Truck 1 arrived along with Engine 441 with fire showing from 1 1/2 story house. Crews forced entry and searched while the outside crew threw 4 ground ladders. With Engine 441 understaffed with 2 personnel, the Truck Crew also assisted the Engine Officer with the line. Both the primary and secondary searches were negative and Truck 1 remained on scene for overhaul and the investigators. Truck 1 cleared at 2010 hours.

The 4th of July was filled with fire works and fire calls for Company 1. With no career staff for the holiday, Hyattsville Volunteers manned the station for what turned out to be an exciting day. Company 1 responded on 30 emergency calls from the start of the 4th into early morning the next day.
To start the day, Truck 1 and Engine 11 were requested for the second alarm in 22’s area where units were held in staging then later released. Later on in the morning, Truck 1 responded to a kitchen fire in the College Park area. Truck 1 assisted with ventilation and controlled the sprinkler system; which had knocked the majority of the fire.

At 1605 hours, Truck 1 was dispatched to 4207 28th Ave in 55's first due to fill the box for the house fire. Truck 1 arrived and went to work opening up the second floor. The crews from 9 and 55 had a quick knock of the electrical fire in the walls on the first floor. Truck 1 opened up all the knee walls on the second and Engine 9 brought a line in to wet things down. Truck 1 cleared at 1650 hours.

At 0325 hours Engine 11 and Truck 1 were dispatched to the area of Baltimore Ave and Kennedy St for the house fire. Engine 72 arrived with a vacant house with fire showing. Truck 1 arrived as the second due and threw numerous ground ladders while the interior crew searched and opened up the second floor.

At 0244 hours Engine 11 and Truck 1 were dispatched for the apartment fire at 1446 Kanawa St in 34's first due. Engine 343 arrived with a room off on the first floor. Engine 11 arrived on side Charlie and stretched a line to the floor above, while the Truck opened up and performed a primary and secondary search. Searches were negative and crew remained on scene for the investigators. Engine 11 and Truck 1 cleared at 0357 hors.

At 0316 hours, RS1 was dispatched to the intersection of Adelphi Road and University Blvd. for one trapped and unresponsive. RS1 responded with 5 members and went to work on arrival.

At 1642 hours, Rescue Squad 1 was dispatched mutual aid to 720 Kennibeck Ave for the house fire with a report of people trapped in Takoma Park. RS1 arrived on scene and performed searches and opened up for the Engine crews. The searches proved negative and RS1 cleared at 1723 hours.
As soon as RS1 marked ready, they were dispatched to 1804 Metzerott Rd for the Apartment Fire. Units arrived on scene with smoke showing and Rescue Squad 1 was put to work doing searches on the fire floor. The searches proved negative and the crews opened up to check for extension. RS1 cleared at 1834 hours. |

At 2044 hours, Engine 11 was dispatched as the first due Engine to Company 13’s first due for the building fire while other units were on transfers to the south side and on other calls. While responding, DC810 arrived with a working fire in an auto body shop.
Engine 11 went to work knocking the fire while Truck 9 opened up and preformed the search. Crews worked together and gained a quick knock on the office area of the auto shop. Engine 11 and Truck 9 remained on scene until 2227 hours for the investigators.

At 1235 hours after returning from a wreck in Montgomery County, the Squad was dispatched for the RIT assignment back in Montgomery County for the working house fire. First arriving units found light smoking showing from a split-level home and requested the RIT assignment.

At 2307 hours, Rescue Squad 1 was alerted to respond to 1167 University Blvd. in Montgomery County for the possible building fire. Squad 1 responded with 6 members and was assigned the primary search of the fire building.
During the search members also secured utilities as searches came up negative. After the fire was knocked, members of the Squad were held for overhaul. The fire ultimately went to a Task Force before it was placed under control. The Squad cleared at 0042 hours. |

At 2231 hours, Rescue Squad 1 was dispatched to 825 Chillum Road in 44's first due for 1 trapped. E44 arrived onscene and confirmed 1 trapped, downgrading the assignment to a door pop.
The Squad arrived onscene with 6 members and extricated the patient immediately following their arrival. RS1 went ready shortly after helping package the patient for transport and cleaning up. |

At 0741 hours, Engine 11 and Truck 1 were dispatched to the 5000 block of 37th Place for a reported house fire. While responded, numerous units could see a large column of black smoke and Communications updated units of possible people trapped.

At 1441 hours, Station 1 was alerted to respond with Rescue Squad 1 to 6303 Riggs Road for the collapse investigation. Squad 1 responded with 6 members and was alerted while enroute that there was a possibility that a tornado had been through the area and that the roof of an elementary school had been lifted off.

At 1533 hours, Truck 1 was dispatched to 4907 Tuckerman St in 7’s first due for the house fire. Engine 72 arrived with nothing showing. As Truck 1 made its way on Tuckerman St smoke could be seen pushing from both the front and rear of the structure.
Soon after, Engine 72 confirmed a working basement fire and Truck 1 went to work as the first due Truck. The Truck crew searched all floors, opened up, and threw five ground ladders. Searches proved to be negative and extension was minimal. Truck 1 remained on scene with Engine 72 to help investigators and cleared at 1651 hours. |

At 0814 hours, Truck 1 was dispatched to the 4600 Block of Baltimore Ave in Bladensburg's area. After turning on the Baltimore Ave., a large black column could be seen in the distance. Engine 551 arrived with heavy fire showing from a 4 bay garage.
Truck 1 arrived as the first due Truck and went to work opening up and searching the office and adjoining bays for occupants. Companies went defensive after 10 minutes as the condition of the building began deteriorating. Truck 1 cleared at 1018 hors. |

This past weekend 11 members of the Hyattsville Fire Department and a few from neighboring departments participated in the “Washington DC Burn Foundation Charity Ice Hockey Tournament.” The Hyattsville Fire Department footed the entrance fee and paid half of the jersey costs, while the members picked up the rest. Members played against DC fire, AAFD and Bergen Fire. |

At 1733 hours, Station 1 was alerted to the reported apartment fire with multiple trapped occupants at 5715 Jamestown Road. Chief 1 and Truck 1 with 8 members arrived on scene with nothing evident. Entry was made into the common stairwell where smoke was now issuing from the terrace level. |

Station 1 was requested to relocate an engine to Station 31 as a result of a working fire in Company 10's first due. While on the transfer the box was struck for 9120 Scott Adam Court in Company 49's first due at 0449 hours. Engine 11 responded with 5 members and was the 4th due Engine on the box alarm.

At 1904 hours, Truck 1 was alerted to respond to 847 Bershire Drive in Company 44's first due for the apartment fire. Truck 1 responded with 8 personnel as the second due truck on the box. Engine 44 went on scene with nothing evident but upon forcing entry to a first floor apartment updated that they had a working fire.
