Just after 8 a.m., Engine 11 was dispatched to the 5600 blk of 16th Ave for an Apartment Fire. As the Engine approached the scene with 4 personnel, heavy smoke could be seen coming across Chillum Road. Engine 441 reported a working fire in apartment 104.

Engine 11 arrived second picking up Engine 441's line at the driveway. As Engine 11 pulled a second line to get to the floor above and check the cock loft they were faced with several occupants attempting to jump from their 3rd floor balconies.

Crews advised these occupants not to jump as they were not in any immediate danger. Once on the 3rd floor crews assisted Truck 55 with opening up the apartment above, minor extension was found in walls along the pipe chases.

No injuries were reported the fire was under control within 15 minutes and crews returned to service in just under two hours.
