At 0645hrs, Truck 1 was dispatched on the box to 8511 Riggs Rd in Co. 34's area [Chillum-Adelphi] for a reported building fire. Engine 343 arrived to find heavy fire coming from a one-story vacant commercial attached to a two story residential.

Truck 1 arrived as the first due Truck and went to work. Crews forced multiple doors and were confronted with a stockpile of clothes, furniture, and cabinets that impeded the fire attack and searches.

Searches proved to be negative in both buildings and crews started to make progress on knocking the fire and opening up. Crews remained on scene for two hours performing extensive overhaul to the fire building. Truck 1 cleared at 0919hrs.
